Name: Miguel Ángel Martínez del Amor

Place in the group: Ph.D. student in "Logic, computing and Artificial Intelligence"

Summary of my C.V.:

  • Computer engineer from the University of Murcia (2002 - 2008)
  • 10 months as erasmus student at the NTNU, Trondheim, Norway (2006/2007)
  • Final project: “Evaluating ATTILA, a cycle-accurate GPU simulator”. Supervisor: Prof. Lasse Natvig. NTNU.
  • 9 months with a collaboration scholarship at GACOP (Parallel Computer Architecture Group), University of Murcia. The work was: “Development of a power consumption simulator for CMPs based on GEMS/Simics”
  • 12 months as hired researcher in the Research Group on Natural Computing, working on the development of a parallel simulator based on CUDA for recognizer P systems with active membranes.

Project abstract: My work in the group is the development of a parallel simulators for P Systems in a massively parallel architecture as the new NVIDIA(r) Graphic Cards (Tesla, Quadro, G80). NVIDIA has released CUDA, a new language based on C, which makes easy the GPGPU (General Purpose GPU) techniques for programmers. This new concept offers up to thousand of threads running on parallel at the same time, what can be good for accelerating the simulation of a P-system. I am interested on simulating P systems which are now being used as a framework for modelling population biology: probabilistic P systems.
